The NFL is finally coming around on this whole patriotism thing. On Sunday, Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch showed massive disrespect for his country during his team’s game Sunday against the New England Patriots at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
While Lynch stood for the Mexican National Anthem, he sat during his own country’s. On Monday, President Trump spoke out against this attack on our Constitution, our anthem, our troops, and our police.
“Marshawn Lynch of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders stands for the Mexican Anthem and sits down to boos for our National Anthem. Great disrespect!” the President tweeted. “Next time NFL should suspend him for the remainder of the season. Attendance and ratings way down.”

The President’s admonition apparently hit home because the Raiders announced Tuesday that Lynch would be suspended without pay for five games.
“What Mr. Lynch did in Mexico crossed a line,” a statement on the team’s website says. “He says he is apologetic for his actions, but we feel an example must be made. He will be sitting out the next five games and has promised that nothing of this sort will happen in the future.”
